Tattletale: The Launch
Wednesday 30th January, 7:30-1am, The Dog House
A night of groovy tunes and open mic at The Dog House to celebrate the project of Tattletale, an independent theatre company co-founded by Auriol Reddaway and Polly Burnay; two University of Edinburgh students. The company is fundraising for their debut play: The Queen of Spades. So come for a dance and to hear the local band Liquorice Paper and a set by Iced Gem (Gemma Smith)! A raffle will also be begin help for bottles of booze, a bar tab, a ticket for the play, T shirts + more.! So come have a beer and support your fellow students!
Staff Vs Students: Pub Quiz
Wednesday 30th January, 7-9pm, The Pear Tree
Think you know your Picasso's from your Giacometti’s? Well get yourself to The Pear Tree for a evening of art facts, general knowledge and tricky questions. Member of the History of Art faculty will be joining the quiz in their own team, you can’t let them win, come along and support the student side and who knows you may beat a leading art scholar on a music round!
CANVAS Launch Party
Thursday 31st January, 7-9pm, Lauriston Fire Station
Come along to the ECA Fire Station between 7 and 9pm to help us celebrate the launch of our displacement issue! There will be an exhibition of some of the featured pieces and your chance to pick up a copy of the magazine! Free entry and free wine!
Pissoirée Exhibition: OTP x FRUIT X MUSE
Friday 1st February, 6-10pm, Dundas Street Gallery
Get down to Dundas Street Gallery for a student curated exhibition featuring a wide range of mixed media work from artists living in Edinburgh. Come on down from 18:00 - 22:00 for the preview opening with free alcohol + BYOB and live DJ Sets from Zero Press and more. All works will be on sale at affordable prices and lots of funky prints and original t-shirt. Feel cultural and super arty as you sip some wine and bop away with your contemporaries! The exhibition runs 11:00 - 16:00 on 2nd and 3rd of February.
Monday 4th February, 9pm, The Bongo Club
The Improverts’ Taliah Horner and Henry Coldstream are hosting a night of dancing and grooving to the local bands of Edinburgh. Come for a night of dancing and hearing the music of Liquorice Papers, Big Teeth, Dinosaur 94, Pope Frances and Capri Collective. £6 on the door.
Careers Night: A Future in Art History
Thursday 7th February, 7-9.30pm, Adam House Basement Theatre
The History of Art Society is hosting a Careers Night to provide students with the opportunity to hear from five professionals working within the field of Art History. The evening includes a wine reception and the opportunity for Q&A afterwards. The event plans to provide an insight into how the speakers got where they are today and encourage being able to talk honestly about what it's like to work in the arts and open up a discussion as to where they think careers in art history may go in the future.
